The UN Charter Libraries Knowledge Network represents a forward-looking initiative to strategically reposition and expand the United Nations Depository Library Programme. This effort seeks to establish a dynamic, inclusive knowledge network centered on the Organization¡¯s founding document¡ªthe UN Charter¡ªand the actions and principles derived from it.
In early 2025, the United Nations Dag Hammarskj?ld Library invited feedback on a concept proposal from individuals, libraries, professional associations, and other knowledge institutions worldwide. The insights and recommendations received have been carefully consolidated and analyzed, and a comprehensive summary of the findings will be published in early 2026.
As part of this ongoing process, regional focus groups are being convened to foster connections, exchange perspectives, and better understand local contexts and requirements.
The transition into the UN Charter Libraries Knowledge Network is actively progressing, with a Global Town Hall planned for mid-2026 to engage stakeholders and share updates.
Regular updates about the status of the initiative are featured in the monthly Depository Library Newsletter. Sign up below to be added to the list of recipients.
