From the safety of our homes, the musicians of the UN Symphony Orchestra performed this spirited and uplifting waltz in response to the present deadly pandemic. Our combined performance is intended as an expression of our common bond as citizens and musicians of our United Nations.

’s Pata Pata, is a fresh take on Miriam Makeba’s 1967 hit song. Once called the “world’s most defiantly joyful song”, Pata Pata has been re-recorded by Kidjo to spread information about COVID-19, with a focus on hundreds of millions of people in remote communities around the world. put out a call to the global public, asking people to submit videos of themselves dancing to the song in their homes and gardens, while observing various COVID-19 lockdown, containment and curfew rules. The response was overwhelming.

Jazz encourages artistic innovation, improvisation, new forms of expression, and inclusion of traditional music forms into new ones. On November 2011 proclaimed 30 April as International Jazz Day to raise awareness of the virtues of jazz as a force for cooperation among people. Jazz music embraces the opportunity to foster greater appreciation not only for the music but also for the contribution it can make to building more inclusive societies. This important international art form is celebrated for promoting peace and dialogue. 

Join us for ‘One World Together At Home,” a global television and streaming special organized by the World Health Organization (WHO), together with international advocacy organization Global Citizen, and curated in collaboration with superstar singer-songwriter Lady Gaga, to celebrate frontline health care workers around the globe in their unrelenting battle against the COVID-19 pandemic. Funding pledges will go to the for WHO – as well as to local charities providing food, shelter and healthcare.
