Open Science at the Dag Hammarskj?ld Library

Â鶹´«Ã½ Dag Hammarskj?ld Library is committed to bringing together people from around the world to promote the principles of openness. Since 2018, it has convened the biennial UN Open Science Conference and hosted events that bring together diverse initiatives of the global open science movement. Open science and open scholarship are the enabling environment through which all Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) may be accomplished. As an enabler of the SDGs and the Pact for the Future, open science can become the driving force behind scientific integrity in the service of humanity, the democratization of the research cycle and the impetus for regional development in scientific conduct. As the largest human rights organization in the world, the United Nations is uniquely positioned to prioritize equity and the right to participate in and benefit from science and knowledge, as recognized by Article 27 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 15 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, and General Comment No. 25 on Science and Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. Moving forward, our shared humanity must be at the centre of the scholarly communications ecosystem. The Dag Hammarskj?ld Library commits to continue bringing together people from around the world to promote the principles of openness.
