On 24 October, the United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) celebrates the 80th anniversary of the United Nations with the issuance of three stamp sheets.
In 2025, the United Nations marks its 80th anniversary, celebrating eight decades of promoting peace, human rights, social progress, and sustainable development. The theme,?¡°Building our Future Together,¡± emphasizing the need for collective action to address global issues.
The three stamp sheets in the denominations of $1.70, CHF 1,70 and €2,10 feature four stamps in a vertical design. The designs incorporate the themes of the pillars of the United Nations: peace and security, development and human rights.
The first stamp on the top is Earth portrayed as greenery, showing growth.
The second stamp focuses on human rights ¨C the peace dove and hand represent humanity joined in the common goal of tolerance, acceptance and love.
The third stamp shows an architectural rainbow that integrates with a peace dove, protecting the growing foliage which allows for growth and development.
The last stamp on the bottom shows the freedom of a butterfly, a symbol of transformation and hope.
The stamp issue was a team effort between the Graphic Design Unit?(GDU) of the Department of Global Communications of the United Nations and the UNPA.
The stamps were designed by Nora Rosansky, postcard designed by Liz Hidalgo?and by Paul Gennaro. Project management was done by Kristina Golubic and Ziad Al-Kadri (GDU) with?Rorie Katz (UNPA).
If you are in New York, a?special postcrossing event will take place at the UNPA stamp counter in the GA1-B lobby on Friday,?24 October, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.?where the artist and the designers of the stamp series will be signing UN80 stamp products.
