In case you missed it

Week 1 | Day Four 〞 8 May

※Africa is a continent of immense potential. It is home to vast resources, a dynamic and young population, and untapped opportunities for innovation. With the youngest population in the world, we have the potential to drive global change.§

Ms. Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General, United Nations

The first Youth Stage of the Africa Dialogue Series will discuss the sub-theme ※Learning from the Past: Transatlantic Slave Trade, Colonialism, Extractive Economies and Institutions in Africa.§

This important dialogue is part of a broader initiative to unpack the African Union*s theme of the year and engage young people in meaningful discussions about our collective past and future.

The dialogue seeks to:
?    Explore the lasting impact of colonialism and the transatlantic slave trade on Africa*s development trajectory.
?    Examine current institutional and economic structures rooted in extractive models.
?    Reflect on how young people can champion change toward peace, justice, and sustainable development (aligned with SDG 16);
?    Inspire action through intergenerational exchange and thought leadership.
