Knowledge for Results

Knowledge for Results

The UN Technology Bank (UNTB) fosters a vibrant knowledge marketplace for Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) sectors, supporting research, analysis, and data sharing across Least Developed Countries (LDCs). Through strategic initiatives, UNTB enables LDCs to harness knowledge, drive innovation, and strengthen capacities in STI.

Our Strategic Objectives

  • Centralized Knowledge Access: We create and maintain a comprehensive repository of STI resources and data to support policymakers, researchers, and investors.

  • Insightful Reporting: We publish regular reports and analyses on STI trends, challenges, and successes in LDCs, highlighting flagship initiatives and best practices.

  • Global Knowledge Exchange: We actively participate in key international fora to facilitate learning, collaboration, and the sharing of innovative approaches.

  • Strategic Partnerships: We develop collaborations with leading global research institutions to enrich the STI knowledge base and strengthen support for LDCs.

  • Brand and Advocacy: We promote UNTB’s work through a consolidated brand identity and a strategic communications and advocacy function to amplify our impact.

Our Initiatives

Knowledge Hub

Our Knowledge Hub serves as a central platform to share best practices, case studies, and lessons from successful STI investments in LDCs. It facilitates networking between knowledge centres, LDC governments, the private sector, and development finance institutions. Through workshops, conferences, and collaborative activities, we educate investors on opportunities and challenges in LDCs.

State of Play on STI in LDCs (Flagship Report)

Every two years, UNTB publishes a Flagship Report capturing the status of policies, strategies, and programs in STI across LDCs. The report:

  • Showcases success stories and impactful initiatives.

  • Highlights challenges, including financing, monitoring & evaluation, and governance.

  • Explores gender and inequality-related barriers that affect STI development.

  • Is developed in collaboration with academia to ensure rigorous, evidence-based analysis.

UNTB Knowledge Management Strategy

To ensure efficient knowledge sharing and client service, UNTB implements a robust Knowledge Management Strategy:

  • Integrating databases, knowledge products, templates, and an improved website for enhanced accessibility.

  • Building outreach capacity to leverage STI-focused repositories, expertise, and networks within and beyond the UN.

  • Establishing peer networks of STI focal points in LDCs to enable knowledge exchange and support.

  • Connecting research institutions, centers of excellence, academia, and private sector actors globally to collaborate on key STI initiatives.

UNTB Brand Identity and Strategic Communications

A strong UNTB brand ensures clarity and consistency in how we communicate and engage stakeholders:

  • We have consolidated a UNTB brand with clear visual guidelines, tone of voice, and templates.

  • The UNTB website has been redesigned to reflect our brand and facilitate access to knowledge resources.

  • Our comprehensive communications and advocacy strategy positions UNTB as a global knowledge leader in STI for LDCs, fostering partnerships and amplifying our impact.

Through these initiatives, UNTB transforms knowledge into actionable results, empowering LDCs to harness science, technology, and innovation for sustainable development.
