Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Ms. Park Geun-hye, President of the Republic of Korea

The Secretary-General met this evening with H.E. Ms. Park Guen-hye, President of the Republic of Korea.
During their meeting, the Secretary-General and President Park discussed a wide range of global issues, including climate change, the international response to Ebola and terrorist threats in Iraq and Syria. The Secretary-General told President Park that he appreciated the Republic of Korea’s active work on international peace and security issues as well as development. He also thanked President Park for her strong support to the United Nations.
They also discussed the Millennium Development Goals, the post-2015 development agenda as well as the Republic of Korea's overseas development assistance. The Secretary General told the President that he hoped the partnership between the United Nations and Republic of Korea will further intensify.
The Secretary-General and President Park also exchanged views on the current situation on the Korean Peninsula. He commended President Park’s commitment to peace and security on the Peninsula. They also discussed ways to promote peace and cooperation in Northeast Asia.
President of the World Bank Dr. Jim Yong Kim also joined the meeting to discuss ways to work together to promote development as well as the climate change agenda.
